Chalvey Community Centre, in partnership with the award winning Slough Senior Citizens Group, launched Technology with Tea in July – a weekly group that helps older people to remove difficultly in working with technology such as laptops, camera and even iPhones. Mr Gupta, from Slough Senior Citizens said “In addition to the healthy living programme, this is a chance for senior citizens to learn more.”
The keen volunteer from IRIS Software Group gave up some of his time to come down to the Chalvey Community Centre to impart on his IT skills and help answer any IT-related questions. He said “I saw the tea and technology sessions as a means of applying the knowledge and skills I have accrued over many years in the workplace. It satisfies not just the needs of the members of the local community but, also my desire to give something back.” IRIS Software Group give employees 3 ‘giving-back’ days a year and they get their birthday off to give back to the community too.
